TMH receives conformity certificate for EP3D EMU

The Demikhovsky Engineering Plant (DMZ), part of Transmashholding, received the certificate of conformity to the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union of the Russian Federation, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia and Armenia for its EP3D ac-EMU. The certificate has a validity of five years.
In 2016, EP3D ac-EMUs were manufactured for export to the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, the future EP3D ac-EMUs to be manufactured under the order of RZD must be suitable for 40 years of operation. Such modification required making engineering changes, obtaining additional certificates for separate assemblies and units as well as for the entire train.
Four- and six-car train sets will be manufactured for RZD in 2018. The design of the EP3D incorporates tried-and-true technical solutions used on the EP2D EMUs for the parking brakes, headlights and windscreen wipers. The passenger saloon layout will be modified as well: the chairs are replaced by six- and two-seat couches.
The commission for review of the routine and certification test results decided at its meeting to approve the design and technological documentation for the EP3D EMU and assign the “O1” code to it, which means that this rolling stock is ready for commercializing. The delivery of the first batch of EMUs to RZD is expected in late February – early March this year.
