TMH authorised to manufacture new type of coaches

Transmashholding has obtained the authorization to produce a pilot batch of 61-4517 and 61-4516 passenger coaches, after the responsible commission reviewed the test results, design documentation, and development prototypes.
The production of these new coaches is outlined in the long-term contract between Federal Passenger Company and TMH Tver Plant, signed in February of 2019. Shipments of the new coaches will start in September-October of 2019.

For the first time in Russia, these models feature a new design concept, as they come in pairs from the factory as two-coach sections.
The service room, where the attendant monitors and controls working parameters, is located in one of the two coaches. The other, instead of a service room, has a convenience zone with vending machines and coffee dispensers.
In addition to a fridge, a microwave, and pressure tight gangways, for the first time a mass model coach will have a bathroom with a shower and a water purifier.
Passenger compartments in 61-4517 models will have foldable tables and personal safes. The lower berths, while folded, make couches with headrests, the upper berths fold flush to the wall and do not take up space.
All passenger seats in 61-4516 model can be equipped with curtains. For added convenience, all seats will have USB outlets.
The new vehicles will accommodate more accessibility options. As such, it will have foldable passage bridges, doors with easy to reach buttons, and gangway pass-through accommodations.
In addition to the authorized models, TMH Tver Plant is finalizing a prototype of 61-4529 crew coach, which will boast a number of new design options. Before the launch into production, it will pass the full scope of commissioning tests and a certification.
