The new CEO of Alstom takes up its role

Martin Sion, the new CEO of Alstom takes its role starting today, April 1, 2026, succeeding Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who, after a decade at the helm, has decided not to seek a further term as CEO.

Martin Sion was appointed as the CEO of Alstom in October 2025, following the recommendation of the company’s Nomination and Remuneration Committee. He succeeds Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who, after a decade at the helm of the company, decided not to stand for another term.

Under the leadership of Henri Poupart-Lafarge, starting in 2016, Alstom strengthened its position as a global leader in the rail industry, achieving significant growth, expanding its product portfolio, and developing strong international partnerships. During this period, the company’s revenues increased from approximately EUR 6 billion to EUR 18.5 billion, while also reaching profitability levels among the highest in the sector.

The successful integration of Bombardier Transportation provided Alstom with the scale, capability and competitiveness required to become one of the world leaders in rail transport.

The Board of Directors expressed its appreciation for his achievements and commitment, which positioned the company to capitalise on opportunities in an ever-evolving transport market.

The new CEO of Alstom will lead the company into a new phase

Philippe Petitcolin, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that the appointment of Martin Sion marks a new chapter for the company, highlighting his experience in industrial leadership, including his role as CEO of ArianeGroup. According to him, the new CEO will help strengthen execution capabilities and deliver on the group’s strategic objectives.

Martin Sion said he is honoured to join the company and looks forward to working with Alstom teams to accelerate the decarbonisation of transport and develop innovative mobility solutions worldwide. He also thanked his predecessor for the solid foundations laid, including the development of a capable leadership team that will support the company’s future growth.
