The first section of Nagpur metro inaugurated

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, flagged off the Nagpur Metro, through video conference, being the second metro network in Maharashtra, a west-central state.
“The dream of the people of Nagpur, of having a metro is now fulfilled. The Nagpur Metro is a futuristic infrastructure project,” Modi said.
The section has a length of 13.5 km, served by 5 stations between Khapri and Sitabuldi. The construction works on the first metro section were launched in 2014.
This section is part of the North-South corridor which will have 22.3 km and 20 stations. The future Nagpur metro system will consist of two corridors totaling almost 42 km and 40 stations.
