Tests launched on Manchester’s Metrolink extension

Transport for Greater Manchester has started the first Metrolink tram test on the new Trafford Park line.
Tests and commissioning process will continue to check all the infrastructure, and ensure drivers undertake training to familiarise with the new route.
The EUR 407.8 million Trafford Park line has 5.5 km served by six new stops, which will enter commercial operation in 2020.
The line runs from the existing Pomona Metrolink stop, through Trafford Park, terminating at into Trafford Centre.
The construction of the new line was launched in 2017.
The new Trafford Park line, which will increase the size of the Metrolink network to 103 km served by 99 stops, will branch off from the existing Pomona stop.
