Tender launched for feasibility studies on Wrocław railway network

PKP Polish Railway Lines announced a tender procedure for the preparation of a preliminary feasibility study for Wrocław Railway Node and a feasibility study for the C-E 59 railway line on the section Święta Katarzyna – Wrocław Muchobór / Wrocław Świebodzki.
The deadline for submitting bids is June 14, 2019. The expected duration of the preliminary feasibility study for the Wrocław Railway Node is 34 months, and for the C-E railway route, 18 months.
The initial feasibility study will identify investment needs based on the data of entities using and planning to use railway lines on Wrocław railway node. It is planned to consult local governments and operators in order to establish initial variants and scenarios for further analyzes of passenger traffic forecasts. Initial technical solutions, guaranteeing the achievement of adequate capacity of railway lines and maximum accessibility for rail transport, are to be proposed. The study will be used to plan the investment projects after 2020.
The study will consider the reconstruction of Wrocław Świebodzki station with the option of a transit station, the construction of a connection to the Wrocław airport, passage of high-speed railway lines through the Wrocław railway junction, the reconstruction of the Wrocław diametral line, and the construction of the needed infrastructure on the diametral line to separate regional and long-distance traffic and freight lines and passenger traffic.
PKP PLK is also commissioning a feasibility study for the Święta Katarzyna – Wrocław Muchobór/Wrocław Świebodzki section on C-E 59 railway line which should determine the necessary works for adjusting the C-E 59 railway line, from Wrocław towards Opole, to the requirements of the TEN-T railway network. The study will analyze the railway lines belonging to the C-E 59 transport corridor including the railway lines within the city of Wrocław and railway lines affecting trains on section C-E 59. The study will make possible to submit an application for granting EU funds in the perspective of 2021-2027.
