Tender announced for Latvia electrification project

Latvia’s rail infrastructure manager, Latvijas dzelzceļš, published the participation invitation for the first phase of railway network’s electrification programme. The programme will be implemented until 2030.
Applicants can submit qualification documents by 20 September 2018 and the needed information on the procurement is available in the system of the Procurement Monitoring Bureau (IUB) and the Official Gazette of the European Union.
The total value of the first phase of the project is estimated at EUR 441 million and the announced procurement amount is EUR 425 million. Of the total costs for Phase 1, EUR 347 million are provided as co-funding from the European Union Cohesion Fund and the remaining EUR 94 million are provided by own funds of VAS Latvijas dzelzceļš. In addition, a funding procedure has been initiated with the European Investment Bank to provide for LDz co-funding.
The Phase 1 of the electrification project envisages specific construction works for Daugavpils–Krustpils, Rēzekne-Krustpils and Krustpils-Riga railway lines and are scheduled to be completed in 2023.
The announced procurement provides for construction or reconstruction of these lines’ power supply systems, contact line system, alarm system, centralisation and blocking, and communication system, rail road, technical security system, buildings and structures.
