Taiwan: new high-speed rail station enters service

01-taiwanThe new high-speed railway Nangang Station began commercial operations. The addition of the Nangang stop will bring the number of stations along the 339-kilometer north-south line to 12, said Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corp. (THSRC).
The new Nangang Station will replace Taipei Main Station as the starting point for southbound trains on the line, THSRC said.
The total number of weekly services on the high speed rail will also be reduced from 969 to 943, mainly because of low passenger occupancy rates during off-peak times at some stations, THSRC also announced.
