Swedish rail may keep protection from 900 MHz interference

Suedia-ERTMS_24900_ertms_toppbildThe Swedish postal and telecoms regulator, PTS, is proposing that protection of the railway network’s GSM-R communications system should be extended. This would pose restrictions until January 2016 on mobile operators who have permits for the 900 MHz frequency band close to the spectrum used by the rail system.
Under current permit conditions, mobile operators have the right to alter transmission modes on 01 July 2015, but this could interfere with reception on trains, as they have not yet been fitted with the necessary filters. Comments should be submitted to PTS by 14 May.
