Stadler wins Milan tram contract

Milan public transport company, Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM), selected Stadler for the supply of up to 80 TramLink tramways. The initial order is for 30 vehicles, which are o be delivered in two years.
The 6-year framework agreement will be signed after the objection period which has started following notification to the losing bidders that Stadler is to be awarded the contract.
In August 2017, ATM launched the tender for 80 new 100% low floor light rail vehicles, valuated at EUR 213 million.
30 trams will enter commercial services on the sub-urban rail network towards Limbiate and Desio counties, near Milan, while the remaining 50 vehicles will serve the urban tram network in Milan.
According to the tender, the new 1445 mm gauge trams will have 23 and 26 meters. They will be equipped with air conditioning and CCTV systems, as well as recuperative braking systems. The new trams will also benefit from active and pasive safety systems.
