Sound Transit awards Downtown Redmond LRT extension contract

The Seattle metropolitan area transport agency, Sound Transit, awarded Stacy and Witbeck – Kuney consortium the contract for the construction of Downtown Redmond link extension.
Under a USD 729 million contract, the consortium will be responsible for the construction of a 5.5 km light rail line and 2 stations in Redmond, Washington.
The line will provide the extension of the Blue Line from Redmond Technology Center to Downtown Redmond Station.
The new LRT section is expected to enter services in 2024 proving transport services from Redmond to Bellevue, Seattle, Lynnwood and Federal Way.
Sound Transit and the City of Redmond are implementing a LRT extension project which includes the construction of 4 stations, of which two will be operational in 2023 and the next two ones, in 2024.
Extension of Sound Transit’s light rail into Redmond will provide fast, frequent and reliable connections around town, Bellevue, Seattle and to the rest of the region.
