SIM Factor will debut its new 3D visualisation software at the 16th TRAKO International Railway Fair in Gdańsk (23–26 September 2025), showcasing enhanced graphics and faster simulation capabilities designed for high-speed train driver training in Poland.

The updated software allows simulations at speeds of more than 250 km/h, with further development under way to support operations at 300–400 km/h. The upgrade marks a step forward in preparing drivers for future high-speed rail services in Poland.
Major graphics overhaul
SIM Factor’s simulator software, which already reproduces over 10,000 km of routes (including 8,000 km in Poland), has undergone a complete graphics overhaul. Key improvements include:
- Enhanced vehicle models and track elements, with realistic ballast and sleepers rendered in fluid 3D.
- Visual effects such as weather conditions impacting windscreen dirt and visibility.
- Expanded scenarios and dynamic line-side events.
The software has been rebuilt on the Unity engine using High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) technology, commonly employed in the gaming industry. HDRP enables advanced lighting, shadows and reflections to create a more lifelike simulation environment.

Preparing for high-speed rail
“With the new software, we can already simulate train journeys at 250 km/h. We are working intensively on architecture changes to be ready for speeds of 300–400 km/h. This means we are technologically prepared to deliver simulators for high-speed rail and start driver training long before the super-fast trains appear on Polish tracks,” Michał Wierzbicki, CEO of SIM Factor S.A., said.
He added that improved graphics not only raise training standards but also make simulators more appealing to younger generations, helping attract and prepare future drivers.
Market launch and demonstration
Early test versions have already been delivered to commercial customers. The HDRP-based graphics will be integrated across all SIM Factor products, from full-cab motion platforms to the compact SMART Lite desktop simulator used by vocational schools.
Two SMART Lite simulators will be available for visitors to test at TRAKO in Hall F, booth 60.
“Better graphics quality, including improved animations, creates an immersive training environment. Our goal in moving to HDRP was to create the most realistic workplace conditions possible. This is not the end, as our proprietary software based on the Unity engine means we are working on further graphical improvements,” Klaudia Narożnik, Head of Graphics & Enviro Department at SIM Factor, said.
SIM Factor, founded in 2017, is a rapidly growing Polish simulation technology company. It specialises in developing advanced simulators for the railway, aviation, entertainment and military sectors.
