The first seven new Škoda ForCity Plus 52T trams have entered service in Prague on November 3, 2025. The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) deployed them on various routes of Line 12, which runs between Lehovec and Sídliště Barrandov.

DPP has assigned the initial seven Škoda ForCity Plus 52T trams to Line 12, where they make up roughly one third of the vehicles in operation. In the coming weeks, and continuing until the end of this year, DPP will gradually introduce more of these new trams into service, reaching a total of 20 vehicles. These will also appear on other routes operated from the Hloubětín depot.
The Škoda 52T is a single-ended, 100% low-floor tram, with a length of 32 metres long, weighing 48 tonnes. It features full air conditioning, LED lighting both inside and out, and a modern passenger information system comprising six screens distributed along the aisle. The total capacity of the tram is up to 243 passengers, including 70 seated. Quick and comfortable boarding is ensured by five double doors.
The new trams are equipped with electromechanical brake system which ensures quieter operation, lower maintenance requirements and greater braking precision. In addition, the vehicles are equipped with an anti-collision system with the LiDAR technology.
Passengers wishing to familiarise themselves with the new tram are encouraged by DPP to take Line 12 – the route where the Škoda 52T trams will be based and most frequently seen.
The new trams have obtained approval in October, following technical tests that required travelling 20,000 km without passengers and another 20,000 km with passengers.
In December 2023, DPP and Škoda Group signed a framework agreement for the supply of up to 200 ForCity Plus 52T trams at an estimated value of EUR 670 million. The firm order covered the delivery of 40 trams. Next year, another 20 will be added to this year’s 20, and the transport company can exercise an option on the remaining 140.
