ScotRail and Siemens Mobility sign maintenance contract extension

maintenance contract extension ScotRail and Siemens Mobility agreed on a five–year maintenance contract extension to provide technical support and spares for the Class 380 trains.

The Technical Support & Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA), running until December 2026, will ensure the provision of Siemens Mobility’s engineering and maintenance expertise to ScotRail, enabling the continuity of the operator’s reliable service.

“As COVID restrictions ease and Scotland opens up once more, we are going to need a reliable, long–term partner we can count on to assist us to keep Scotland moving. The performance and reliability of our trains has been brilliant in recent months thanks to hardworking staff across the network, including our colleagues at Siemens Mobility,” Syeda Ghufran, ScotRail Engineering Director, said.

The 38 Class 380 trains part of ScotRail fleet have travelled almost 50 million miles over the last ten years, enabling 125 million passenger journeys.

The maintenance contract extension is a testament to the reliability of the fleet as well as the outstanding skills and dedication of the maintenance staff at the Shields depot. This is the second time that ScotRail have agreed to extend this contract and this latest five–year extension is a great credit to the strong relationship between ScotRail and Siemens Mobility.

Twenty–one Siemens Mobility employees stationed at the Shields depot in Glasgow will continue to ensure the Class 380 fleet achieves optimum performance and reliability by performing expert technical, commercial, materials, logistics and service delivery. This provides ScotRail passengers with high quality and reliability for their journeys.
