Russia to develop Kyrgyz railway network

The Transport ministers of Russia and Kyrgyz Republic and the directors of countries’ railway companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop the rail network in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The memorandum notes the positive development and the effectiveness of joint action to develop a preliminary feasibility study of projects for the phased development of the rail network in the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular the completion of the first stage of the documentation development in February this year.
Among the projects under consideration, the document indicates the construction of a China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line and a railway junction linking Kyrgyzstan’s northern and southern regions.
According to the results of the preliminary feasibility study, the parties intend to put forward proposals for their participation in the implementation of projects to develop Kyrgyzstan’s rail network.
