Riga contracts loan for tram acquisition

Nordic Investment Bank and public transport operator in Riga, Rīgas satiksme, have signed a contract for a loan of EUR 60 million. It will be used to purchase hydrogen-powered buses and low-floor trams, as well as for investments into tram infrastructure.
Rīgas satiksme intends to purchase 20 low-floor trams and 10 hydrogen-powered buses. The new trams from Škoda Transportation are planned to be supplied over the course of 2017. The companies also continues adapting the rail lines for low-floor trams. This includes reconstruction of crossings, stops and electric cable systems.
