RFP closed for Toronto Milton station and Station Operations West Facility

GO rail expansion programmeInfrastructure Ontario has closed the Request for Proposals for Milton GO station and the new Station Operations West facility project as part of the GO rail expansion programme in Greater Toronto Area.

Following an open and transparent request for qualifications process Milton Transit Group, Milton Integrated Transit Team, and Ledcor MM Partners were prequalified and invited to respond to a request for proposals in April 2018.

Milton Transit Group and Ledcor MM Partners have submitted their proposals by the deadline.

Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx have begun to evaluate the proposals and expect to announce the preferred proponent in February 2021.

The Milton GO station project covers upgrades to station building as well as the upgrade and reconfiguration of the existing north parking lot layout and passenger pick-up/drop-offs, and the creation of accessible connections to train and bus platforms. The project also involves the modernisation of the existing rail platform and infrastructure to support future layover of trains, the construction of a new south parking lot with additional parking spaces and a tunnel to connect to the existing rail platform, and the improvement of pedestrian connections and bicycle storage.

The new Station Operations West Facility will accommodate future office, warehouse and parking needs for GO operations and will provide a new secured fleet vehicle parking lot.

The two projects will reduce the traffic congestion, greenhouse gases and fuel consumption and will improve the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel time.

The GO rail expansion programme will transform the transport network in Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area over the next decade. Metrolinx will transform the GO Transit rail network into a system that will deliver two-way, all-day service every 15 minutes over core segments of the GO rail network. System-wide infrastructure upgrades will include new tracks, the expansion of the existing stations, electrification works, while the new locomotives and the train control systems will enable more frequent service.
