RegioJet has secured EUR 84 million in financing for trains over the past 15 years

The financial company SG Equipment Finance (SGEF), part of the Komerční banka group, announced that it has provided approximately EUR 92 million in financing for the train and bus fleets of operators RegioJet and Student Agency over the past 15 years.

According to the company, total financing amounted to approximately 92 million EUR and supported the development of both the rail and bus fleets of the group controlled by entrepreneur Radim Jančura.

Financing for locomotives, railcars, and electric trains

The majority of the financing was directed toward rail transport. Over the 15 years of RegioJet’s operations, SGEF has financed rail rolling stock totaling 84 million EUR.

Among the financed assets are:According to the company, the value of financing for multi-system locomotives reached 39 million EUR, and that for passenger cars and other rail vehicles reached 37 million EUR.

  • multi-system locomotives from the RegioJet Pool fleet, used on long-distance international trains in Central Europe
  • passenger cars and other railway equipment of the operator
  • PESA electric multiple units intended for regional transport.

In addition, SGEF also financed PESA electric multiple units for regional services, amounting to 5.6 million EUR.

Financing for buses as well

In addition to trains, the financial company has also supported the development of the RegioJet bus network, which operates domestic and international routes.

Financing for buses used in long-distance services amounted to 8.1 million EUR.

Another 80 million EUR in the pipeline

According to SGEF, the two parties are currently analyzing a new financing package of approximately 80 million EUR, intended primarily for the purchase of rolling stock for regional transport.

The company emphasized that the partnership with RegioJet has contributed to the development of one of the largest private passenger rail operators in Central and Eastern Europe.

RegioJet is headquartered in the Czech Republic and operates domestic and international rail services in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. Recently, the company also entered the domestic rail transport market in Poland through open-access services.
