Record ridership for Hong Kong Express Rail Link services

MTR Corporation announced that 880,000 passenger trips were made on Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong HSR, since services were started in September 23.
During the National Day and Golden Week holiday period (28 September to 7 October) the Express Rail Link served a total of around 650,000 passenger journeys between Hong Kong and different Mainland cities. The cumulative number of tickets sold, including those sold in the pre-sale period has exceeded 1 million.
The 26-km Express Rail Link offers rail transport services from Hong Kong West Kowloon station and the six Mainland stations Futian, Shenzhenbei, Guangmingcheng, Humen, Qingsheng and Guangzhounan. It connects Hong Kong with 44 mainland stations without interchange, including six short-haul stations and 38 long-haul stations.
“The HSR provides comfortable and convenient cross-boundary train services for passengers travelling between Hong Kong and Mainland cities. Thanks to the hard work and determination of our HSR operating team and MTR colleagues from various departments to provide quality rail services, station operations and train services have been generally smooth since service commencement,” Lincoln Leong, CEO of MTR Corporation said.
During the first day, the Hong Kong West Kowloon station operations and the train service run smoothly and a total of 95 Vibrant Express train pairs (82 short haul train pairs, and 13 medium to long haul train pairs) are scheduled to operate services.
