RB Rail CEO Riihimäki resigns

Timo Riihimäki, RB Rail CEO and Chairman of the Management Board has announced his resignation due to personal reasons. He will carry out his duties until 19 December 2019. The further operations of the RB Rail will be assured by other Members of the Management Board and the Joint Venture team during the period of search and recruitment of the new CEO.
“The team will also be shortly strengthened by the Chief Programme Management Officer who will be head-responsible for acceleration of the Global Project critical path activities,” Karolis Sankovski, Chairman of the RB Rail AS Supervisory Board, said.
Since March 2019, when Riihimäki was appointed as the CEO of RB Rail, progress was made for the railway project. Design works started for 411 km of the Rail Baltica and design procurements for additional 236 km were also launched. In addition, Riihimäki further improved the company structure by introducing a Programme Management Division to strengthen the project’s capacity towards a successful implementation of the design and construction phases. In addition, the role of the procurement division at RB Rail AS was reinforced within the company to ensure a more efficient procurement process.
