PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK), the railway infrastructure manager in Poland, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology for the training of future railway engineers.
The signing of the document is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the railway infrastructure sector and academia.
The agreement provides for joint actions in the field of student training, scientific research, and skills development that meet the current and future needs of the railway market. The cooperation will include, among other things, the organisation of internships and work placements, the implementation of research and development projects, dual education, support for talented students, as well as the involvement of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe experts in the development of study programmes, courses and training programmes.
“The implementation of large-scale railway investments requires well-trained engineering staff. That is why we want to be actively involved in training future railway engineers and supporting young people interested in the railway sector,” said Marcin Mochocki, member of the Management Board and director for investment implementation at PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.
The collaboration with the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology is part of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe’s long-term strategy, which aims to build a stable human resources base for the railway sector and strengthen the links between education, research, and engineering practice.
“Railways are one of the most modern and dynamically developing sectors of transport today. It is an area where technological innovation, digitalization, and sustainable development play a key role. Cooperation with PLK S.A. will allow us to better prepare students for the challenges they will face as future engineers,” emphasized Prof. Andrzej Garbacz, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. Thanks to this agreement, students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology will have the opportunity to come into direct contact with real investment processes, and the company will benefit from the knowledge and skills of young engineers.
