Poland not to merge cargo operators

poloniaThe Polish government has abandoned a plan to merge six Polish rail cargo operators under the umbrella of a state-owned industrial development agency. The operators concerned by the merger were Lotos Kolej, Orlen KolTrans, Pol-Miedz Trans, Koltar, Jastrzebska Spolka Kolejowa and Euronaft Trzebinia. The resulting group would have had a 20% share in the Polish rail cargo market. However, after conducting initial analyses, the authorities decided to put on hold further works to merge the rail cargo operators. The merger idea was opposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and trade unions.
