PKP signed another contract with Torpol

Poland’s infrastructure manager, PKP PLK, and Torpol have signed the contract on the modernisation of Działdowo – Olsztyn rail section, as part of No. 216 railway line. The value of the contract is PLN 267.6 million (EUR 62.4 million) and is financed under the Operational Programme Eastern Poland 2014-2020. The EU’s co-financing represents 85% of the total cost. The project is scheduled to be completed within 21 months.
Under the project, there will be reconstructed the 83 km section of Działdowo – Olsztyn, including the 13 platforms and will be constructed two new stops in Olsztyn.
The project envisages the modernisation of the railways and road infrastructure, the upgrade of traffic control devices and the reconstruction of railway bridges and viaducts. As a result, the trains will be able to run between Działdowo and Olsztyn at a speed of 120 km/h, which will shorten the journey by about 16 minutes.
In Warmian-Masurian, province in northeast Poland, within the National Railway Program there are planned PLN 1.5 billion (EUR 350 million) for the modernisation of four rail sections: Ełk – Korsze, Działdowo – Olsztyn, Ełk – Szczytno and Gutkowo – Braniewo. In addition, there are implemented other two project with a total value of EUR 175 million for works on E 75 railway line on Białystok – Suwałki – Trakiszki section and the revitalisation of railway line No. 220 on Olsztyn – Gutkowo section.
