PKP Cargo to buy 936 flat wagons from Tatravagónka

PKP Cargo and Tatravagónka signed a contract worth PLN 368.4 million (EUR 85.7 million), part of the financing (EUR 70 million) being covered through European funds. Greenbrier Europe has also participated in the tender. The American company owns seven freight car production workshops in Europe. These workshops are in Romania, Poland and Slovakia. The first 50 Tatravagónka freight cars will be delivered until the end of 2019, another 400 cars will be delivered in 2020 and another batch of 298 cars in 2021. The last batch of 188 flat cars will be delivered in 2022.
PKP Cargo did not reveal the exact cost of the contract signed with Tatravagónka, but the procurement financing was covered through European funds.
PKP Cargo also announced that this year it will organise another tender for the acquisition of 220 intermodal flat cars. The bid submission date for this new tender will be announced in a few weeks. This procurement will also be possible thanks to European financing.
