PKP Cargo extends its agreement with PGE Group

PKP Cargo signed a EUR 155 million (PLN 665 million) contract for hard coal and limestone transport services for the PGE Group.
The contract includes five other contracts with PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna, PGE Energia Ciepła and Zespół Elektrociepłowni Wrocławskich Kogeneracja, members of PGE Group. PKP Cargo will transport the cargoes from Dolna Odra Power Plant and Opole Power Plant.
Under the signed contracts, PKP Cargo will provide transport services from 2019 to 2021. The contracts are an extension of the existing contracts for which PKP Cargo provided transport services from 2013 to 2018.
15.2 million tones of hard coal and 1.5 million tons of limestone are estimated to be transported.
The PGE Group is one of the key clients of PKP Cargo, for which several dozen trains are launched per week. The tender for hard coal transport for the PGE Group is one of the largest coal-covered tenders recently settled.
“The agreements prove that we are a reliable partner for the largest electricity producer in Poland. For PKP Cargo, the coal transport represents 40% of the total types of cargoes,” Czesław Warsewicz, the president of PKP Cargo said.
