Pasazieru Vilciens could receive upgraded trains by the end of March

05-PasazieruLatvian rail operator Pasazieru Vilciens could receive the upgraded diesel trains by the end of March 2016 at the latest, said the company’s board chairman Andris Lubans. The project concerns the renovation of six diesel trains to increase passengers comfort and safety, improve environment protection requirements, and ensure efficient use of energy resources.
According to the plan, the first upgraded diesel trains had to be commissioned in late February, but, as the certification institution has required additional tests, the deadline might be extended, explained Andris Lubans.
The government extended in December 2015 the deadline for the project until 30 June.
