Otis India is contributing to the country’s first high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, providing 55 elevators and escalators across six stations and one depot. The systems will form part of India’s most advanced passenger infrastructure, integrating safety, efficiency, and sustainability into the new high-speed corridor.

A subsidiary of Otis Worldwide Corporation a leading elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation, and service company – Otis India is using its engineering expertise to support the next generation of transport infrastructure across the country.
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, which employs Japan’s Shinkansen bullet train technology, will allow trains to run at speeds of up to 320 km/h, reducing the 508 km journey to just over two hours and cutting travel time by around four hours compared with current rail services.
“Otis is already powering India’s ambition and progress in infrastructure growth at metro stations, airports and commercial hubs. Now we are honoured to be playing a key role in high-speed rail and the advancement of India’s transportation systems,” said Sebi Joseph, President of Otis India. “With Otis innovation, modern and reliable products, and our relentless commitment to passenger safety, we aim to make every step of the passenger’s journey safe, smooth and seamless.”
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad link is the first in a planned national high-speed rail network, designed to connect India’s major economic regions and urban centres.
Future-ready vertical mobility
Otis India’s contribution will include the installation of:
- Gen2 Stream elevators, which use machine room-less and gearless technology. Each unit is equipped with Otis ReGen regenerative drive systems, capable of converting excess energy into electricity, improving energy efficiency.
- Otis 520 NPE escalators, a heavy-duty model designed for continuous, bi-directional operation in high-traffic environments such as stations and airports. The systems prioritise safety, endurance, and smooth passenger flow.
The project builds on Otis India’s extensive experience in providing vertical mobility solutions for major transport infrastructure, including metro systems and airports across the country.
