Oradea assigns contract for second-hand trams

Tatra KT4D tram, purchased in 2017 from Berlin. It now operates in Oradea (Romania)

Oradea Transport Local public transport company (OTL) assigned a contract of EUR 625,000 (RON 2.91 million) to German company Reprocs for the supply of 20 second-hand trams.
The tender was public and the attribution criteria was the lowest price. We recall that in 2017, the Romanian city Oradea bought ten such trams, Tatra KT4D model. As this is the only model that OTL wanted, it was to be expected that the contract would be assigned to the same company. The first 10 trams were bought at a cost of EUR 35.000 each, transport included.
“The 20 trams that we will get will run in Berlin until 2019. Their technical condition is good and very good”, said OTL Manager Viorel Pop in March 2018.
We also recall that in February 2018, Oradea Local Council approved the procurement of 20 new trams. The total cost of vehicles is estimated at EUR 32 million. The trams will be bought in two phases (10 trams per phase).
The first phase was closed and Oradea received a single offer from the Romanian rolling stock manufacturer Astra Vagoane Calatori. The offer for the supply of new trams is currently under evaluation.
