ÖBB has confirmed that its Nightjet services from Vienna and Berlin to Paris will be discontinued from 14 December 2025, following a decision by the French Ministry of Transport to end public service funding for the routes.

The withdrawal of support means the services can no longer be operated, as night trains rely on international cooperation between railway partners.
Vienna–Brussels Nightjet to continue
While the Paris connections will cease, ÖBB’s Vienna–Brussels Nightjet will remain in operation in 2026, running three times per week.
Other popular overnight services, including routes from Vienna to Amsterdam and from Munich to Rome, will continue to operate.
ÖBB remains Europe’s largest night train operator
Despite the loss of the Paris routes, ÖBB will continue to hold its position as Europe’s largest provider of night trains. The company is investing in 24 new-generation Nightjet trains, which will expand capacity and improve passenger comfort across its network.
The modern fleet will be deployed on existing routes, reinforcing ÖBB’s long-term commitment to the night train market.
The decision marks a setback for night train connectivity between France and Central Europe, but ÖBB emphasises that it remains committed to sustainable, cross-border overnight travel. With continued investment in rolling stock and operations, the operator aims to strengthen and expand its remaining Nightjet services across the continent.
