ÖBB RCG launches a new TransFER connection

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group has launched a new rail connection, creating a new TransFER connection between Wels, Vienna and Budapest.
This will link not only Austria with Hungary, but also the entire northern European region with south-eastern Europe and the Asian part of Turkey.
With TransFER Wels-Vienna-Budapest, RCG relies on a cooperation with the Frankfurt Kombiverkehr KG and thus enables direct access to both networks from a single source. The direct connection between the Wels CCT-Wien Süd CCT-Budapest BILK terminals three times a week means that passengers can switch directly from the respective terminal to the Kombiverkehr and ÖBB RCG networks. The results are attractive, continuous transit times and an optimal timing of the schedules in Wels CCT-Vienna South CCT-Budapest BILK to the respective main runs. Customers benefit from an optimal connection to the international intermodal networks of both logistics partners.
In addition, the new rail connection between the three intermodal nodes in Europe, customers will be offered the attractive opportunity to shift road traffic to environmentally friendly railway. ÖBB RCG thus not only creates network effects between Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, but above all attractive logistics solutions between the entire Northern, Central and South-Eastern European region.
