ÖBB opens, in a rail station, first EV charging point in Salzburg province

Austrian Railways (ÖBB) continues to improve services for passengers using electric vehicles. Thus, the state-owned company has opened a new EV charging station in Bischofshofen rail station, the first in the province of Salzburg.
The EV charging station is located in the Park & Ride area near Bischofshofen rail station. It is equipped with three type 2 charging points. The charging fee is EUR 0.5/hour. Customers can use their ÖBB card or their smartphone to pay for charging their vehicle.
The new charging station was installed by ÖBB-Infrastruktur, the Austrian rail infrastructure manager, in cooperation with Smatrics, the Austrian operator of the EV charging network.
Bischofshofen rail station charging point adds to the ÖBB network which now has 29 such charging facilities located in seven of the Federal Austria’s nine provinces.
Other charging points have been recently opened in rail stations such as losterneuburg-Kierling, Marchegg, Melk, Strasshof and Bruck an der Leitha.
Customers can benefit from 18 charging stations in Lower Silesia rail stations, four charging stations in Styria and three in Burgenland. Other four provinces, Salzburg, Tyrol, Carinthia, Vorarlberg have a charging station each. All EV charging stations have been installed in collaboration with Smatrics and operate non-stop.
Developing electric vehicle charging stations is part of ÖBB’s strategy of delivering eco-friendly energy.
