Nurminen begins Trans-Caspian trains to Kazakhstan factory

Nurminen Logistics has commenced regular block train shipments from the Czech Republic to Kazakhstan, serving the Allur Company’s factory in Kostanay—the country’s largest automotive manufacturing facility.

Allur Company is the official producer and distributor of several prominent automotive brands in Kazakhstan, including Škoda, Chevrolet and Kia. The shipments, comprising car parts and components in 40-foot high cube containers, are transported via the Trans-Caspian route, which avoids Russian territory.

The first test train was dispatched in January in collaboration with RED STAR LOGISTICS. Following its success, Nurminen is now operating monthly full-train deliveries to the Kostanay plant.

The trains depart from Prague and travel along the Trans-Caspian corridor, a route that has gained strategic importance among European companies. Nurminen was one of the first logistics firms to utilise the corridor in spring 2022, following disruptions to traditional rail freight routes.

“We have done a lot of work and operational development with different operators and ports to create a competitive delivery time and a functional connection,” said Marjut Linnajärvi, Director of International Rail Traffic and Sales at Nurminen Logistics. “Nurminen’s long history, expertise and reputation in Central Asian countries have helped us in this.”

The Trans-Caspian route, which combines rail and maritime transport, is increasingly seen as a reliable and environmentally sustainable solution for modern supply chains, where speed and emissions reduction are growing priorities.
