New York launches pilot projects under Transit Tech Lab

New York metropolitan transport authority, MTA, has successfully completed the Transit Tech Lab, which is an acelerator programme that enables tech companies to test and introduce new products designed to improve transit services.
Four of the six companies graduating from the accelerator will begin pilots with the MTA to implement products that address key metro and bus challenges.
For metro sector, Axon Vibe and Veovo are the two companies that will develop smart technologies. Through Axon Vibe technology development, MTA can proactively notify the impacted passengers, taking into consideration their location and context, and provide alternative transport suggestions based on rider’s anticipated destination and commuting preferences.
Veovo, which measures the number of passengers moving through a metro station, can allow MTA to use the information to improve the deployment of staff to stations, change train distribution and plan more efficient station design
