Mireo trains ordered for Karlsruhe regional network

DB Regio ordered 7 three-car Mireo trains from Siemens Mobility which will be built at Krefeld plant, in Germany.
The trains will be delivered by the end of 2022 and will enter services on the regional express Karlsruhe 7b network, between Karlsruhe and Heidelberg/Mannheim via Bruchsal.
The new trains are procured by DB Regio on behalf of the Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg and after delivery, the vehicles will become the property of the Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Württemberg (SFBW). They will be leased to DB Regio for 13 years, under the term of the transport contract.
The articulated Mireo trains, with new aerodynamic design and quiet bogies, will have 200 seats. Its lightweight construction, energy-efficient components and intelligent network management enables the Mireo to reduce its energy consumption by up to 25% compared to the previous generation of EMUs.
