Metrorex to receive EUR 30 million for the acquisition of 30 metro trains

Bucharest underground transport operator, Metrorex, is to receive, from the 2019 State budget, EUR 30 million for the purchase of 13 new trains for Line 5 and 17 trains for the already existing line, the interim Minister of Transport, Rovana Plumb, said in the debates of Parliament’s special commissions gathered to discuss the MT budget draft for 2019.
According to the minister, Metrorex has a budget of RON 1,435 billion for 2019, of which RON 417 million is the subsidy, and the investments amounts to RON 1,018 billion lei, of which the European funds reach the amount of RON 836,78 million.
“We have investments, which amount to EUR 220.22 million or RON 1017.40 million, for Line 4 Connection 2 of the Parc Bazilescu – Lac Straulesti, Line 5 Drumul Taberei – Universitate – Pantelimon, the modernisation of the installations on Line 1, Line 2, Line 3 and the metro network connection with Henri Coanda International Airport – M6, the famous M6. On Line 4, Gara de Nord Station – Progresu Station, we have a pre-feasibility study and a feasibility study”, Interim Minister Rovana Plumb said.
