MÁV, GYSEV to receive state subsidies for passenger services

MAV_TalentHungarian state-owned railway company MÁV is expected to receive a state subsidy of HUF 144 bln (EUR 464.8 mln) for its passenger services this year, a decree by the National Development Ministry published in the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny revealed, Budapest Business Journal writes.
On the basis of allowances promised earlier, MÁV will receive an additional HUF 12 bln (EUR 38.7 mln) in support for passenger services, the decree added. The decree allocates HUF 68 bln (EUR 219.5 mln) in support to MÁV for track upkeep.
GYSEV, a regional railway co-owned by Hungary and Austria, is expected to receive HUF 10.4 bln (EUR 33.5 mln) in support for passenger service and HUF 4.9 bln (EUR 15.8 mln) for track maintenance.
