Manila: 4 groups in competition for LRT operation and maintenance contract

Manila LTRSFour groups submit prequalification documents to the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) for the public-private partnership (PPP) contract to operate and maintain the existing Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2) and all of its future extensions during the project’s concession period.
The four prospective bidders that submitted the documents include the Aboitiz-SMRT Transport Solutions Consortium; DM Consunji Inc.-Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. Consortium; Light Rail Manila Holding 2 Inc. of LRMH of Ayala Corporation and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), RATP TRANSDEV Asia, and RATP Developpement SA; and SMC-KORAIL Consortium.
The private partner will undertake the operation and maintenance of the existing LRT Line 2, the 4.14 kilometer East Extension, and any other future extensions implemented by the government during the project’s term.
The project will infuse private sector efficiencies into the operations of the LRT Line 2 to provide better service levels to the riding public.
