Maersk selects Railcare for special rail transport in Sweden

Railcare has signed a framework agreement with Martin Bencher, a Maersk Group company, for special rail transport in Sweden. The agreement covers cargo that cannot be transported using standard solutions due to its size, weight, or configuration.

Railcare, a Swedish company specializing in rail services, maintenance, and special shipments, has signed a framework agreement with Martin Bencher (Scandinavia) AB, part of the global transportation and logistics group Maersk.

Under this agreement, Railcare will become the preferred partner for rail operations in Sweden that require specialized expertise, detailed planning, and dedicated resources.

The agreement does not include volume guarantees. Shipments will be carried out as needed, with the first one scheduled for July.

Transportation of Oversized Cargo

The contract covers special rail shipments for cargo that does not fit within standard transport solutions due to its dimensions, weight, or design.

According to Railcare, such operations may include large and bulky industrial components, such as transformers, machine parts, or other heavy equipment.

“The fact that a globally recognized transportation company has chosen to partner with Railcare for specialized transport operations in Sweden is an important recognition of our capabilities. We have extensive experience and expertise in specialized rail transport, largely due to our flexible approach and dedicated staff. We are therefore delighted to have earned Maersk’s trust,” said Mattias Remahl, CEO of Railcare.

Railcare Offers Integrated Solutions

Railcare has a strong presence in the specialized rail transport segment and offers services covering planning, permit management, transport execution, and coordination with other logistics providers.

The company has its own fleet of vehicles, as well as the technical expertise to manage complex rail projects.

Railcare states that this combination enables it to carry out safe and efficient transport operations, even under difficult conditions.

Maersk Expands Its Customized Logistics Solutions

Maersk, one of the world’s largest players in transportation and logistics, is primarily known for maritime and container shipping, but is increasingly expanding its portfolio of customized logistics solutions.

The agreement with Railcare is part of this effort, utilizing rail transport for specialized operations in the Swedish market.

“We view this agreement as a long-term partnership, in line with Railcare’s strategy to continue developing its offerings in specialized transport,” said Mattias Remahl.

Railcare Group is headquartered in Skellefteå, in northern Sweden, and operates primarily in Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. The group has approximately 200 employees and annual sales of about 670 million Swedish kronor.
