LTG Link upgrades ticketing system and digital channels

LTG Link, Lithuania’s passenger rail operator, will modernise its ticketing system, website and mobile app in the second half of this year in partnership with Estonian technology company Turnit, aiming to deliver a simpler travel experience aligned with international standards.LTG Link ticketing system upgrade

“We want to grow alongside our passengers, not only in Lithuania but also in the international market. That is why we are investing in technological solutions that will provide a modern and convenient travel experience. Our goal is to make rail journeys seamless, from ticket purchase to the final destination, both within Lithuania and beyond its borders,” said Kristina Meidė, Chief Executive of LTG Link.

Digital integration for seamless international rail travel

Following the upgrade of its ticketing platform, LTG Link will be able to connect its system with those of railway operators in other countries, making it easier for passengers to plan and purchase international rail tickets through a single channel.

Currently, passengers travelling, for example, to Poland often need to use separate booking platforms for the onward stages of their journey. The upgraded system will allow travellers to plan and manage their entire trip through the LTG Link website or mobile application.

“LTG Link is the most progressive passenger rail operator in the region, with a clear vision of what modern rail transport should look like. Their commitment to seamless cross-border mobility will benefit passengers across Europe. We are proud to contribute to this transformation,” said Ülo Säre, Chief Executive Officer of Turnit.

The new platform will also support integration with local transport services such as buses, ride-sharing providers and car rental companies, while offering additional services including parking space reservations.

At the same time, LTG Link’s website and mobile app will be upgraded with new features such as biometric authentication, Apple Pay and Google Pay payment options, and enhanced user functionality.

The implementation of the European Open Sales and Distribution Model is regarded as a key step towards the digitalisation of rail transport, reducing ticket distribution costs and improving interoperability between railway operators across Europe.
