Lotos Kolej ordered additional Dragon 2 locomotives

Lotos Kolej, a Polish rail freight operator, and Newag, signed a contract for the supply of six E6ACTab Dragon 2 electric locomotives, which will enter services this year. The contract, which was signed in December, is funded by Millenium Leasing.

The six-axle locomotive is fully compliant with the Technical Specifications for Interoperability and is equipped with ETCS level 3. The vehicle features the most modern and reliable technologies and ensures high comfort for the driver.

“Thanks to the new Dragon 2 locomotives, the offer to our customers, especially when servicing heavy freight trains, will be better and more competitive. The new locomotives contribute to the increase of the company’s potential, transport capacity, as well as to the improvement of drivers’ comfort,” said Anatol Kupryciuk, the president of Lotos Kolej.

PLN 88 million (EUR 20.76 million) is the value of the agreement which includes maintenance services.

Lotos Kolej is currently operating three Dragon 2 locomotives. In 2019, the company ordered from Newag five electric locomotives, of which 3 six-axle Dragon 2 vehicles and 2 four-axle Griffin locomotives, all equipped with ETCS Level 2. The PLN 80 million (EUR 18.9 million) contract also includes
