London Underground Northern Line extension, approved

The Secretary of State for Transport  approved a £1bn (EUR 1,26 bn) 5km extension to the Northern Line of London Underground (LU).
The project involves the construction an operation of 3.2 kilometre extension of the Charing Cross Branch of the Northern Line from Kennington to a new station at the site of the disused Battersea Power Station, with an intermediate station at Nine Elms. The project is being funded entirely by the property developers through the creation of an enterprise zone which will be set up in 2016 and will operate for 25 years.
