Lodz purchases 15 Moderus Gamma trams

The public transport operator in Lodz, MPK Łódź, and Modertrans Poznań have signed a contract for the delivery of 15 Moderus Gamma trams, with the option to extend the order by another 15 vehicles.

Under the contract, the trams initially ordered will be delivered within 18 months.

The tender procedure, launched in 2024, was completed in early 2025, but the contract signing process was prolonged due to the beneficiary’s complex financial conditions. The activities to secure financing for the investment took several months, but in the end, they were successfully completed and the contract was signed.

“It is a contract we have been waiting for a long time, but we are all the more pleased to have obtained it. Łódź is a very important partner for Modertrans, and the signing of this contract confirms the confidence in the technology, experience, and quality of the vehicles we offer,” emphasized Piotr Pawlak, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Modertrans Poznań.

Under the contract, the manufacturer will supply Moderus Gamma LF 11 AC trams, which are 32-meter-long, low-floor vehicles designed for high passenger comfort and reliable operation in urban conditions. They will be equipped, among other things, with an anti-collision system, energy-efficient energy recovery systems, and modern passenger information systems. Passengers will benefit from a modern air conditioning system throughout the tram, which will also be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities by creating special spaces.

The option for additional Moderus Gamma trams will be exercised in accordance with the public transport modernization and rolling stock renewal plan implemented by MPK Łódź. To date, Modertrans Poznań has already delivered 30 LF 06 AC trams to MPK Łódź.

The Moderus Gamma LF 06 AC trams were manufactured in 2023 and are low-floor, five-section trams. They have a capacity of 167 standing passengers and 60 seated passengers.
