Lithuania‘s goal: bridge Asia and Europe in terms of transport and logistics

Lithuania“The development of trans-European transport network is significant to Lithuania. Our ambition is to develop a Euro-Asian transport network of efficient corridors: integrate rail freight services with road, maritime, inland waterways and air services, as well as, perform simpler and shorter border control procedures” said Rimantas Sinkevičius, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania during the 3rd ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Transport Ministers’ meeting held in Riga.
According to the Minister, high quality of integrated multimodal infrastructure is an important contribution to the successful development of the country and its partners. One of the examples is train “Saulė”, a strategic project of cooperation between Lithuania and Kazakhstan which has a real possibility to become a realization of the New Silk Road, connecting Europe and Asia, ambition.
