Leo Express has unveiled the livery for the locomotives that will pull Talgo multiple units on the new international routes between Prague and Bratislava, and between Prague and Prešov. The operator will use three Vectron multi-system locomotives leased from Railpool, one of which has already been unveiled in a full white-and-orange livery.
According to the company, the new locomotives will enter service in the coming weeks, coinciding with the launch of services between the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Talgo and Vectron for the new connections between the Czech Republic and Slovakia
The Vectron locomotives leased from Railpool will pull 13-railcar Talgo trains, with a capacity of 350 passengers, provided through the strategic partnership between Leo Express and the Spanish operator Renfe.
“For the Talgo trains that will begin operating in the coming weeks between Prague and Bratislava and between Prague and Prešov, we have chosen the most modern multi-system locomotives. Their reliability underscores the quality of service that Leo Express customers have come to expect,” said Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.
The company says that the Talgo trains combine low-floor design with barrier-free accessibility, and thanks to the tilting system and bogie construction, the trains should offer a comfortable ride even on curved routes. The maximum speed is up to 200 km/h.
Leo Express brings its visual identity to the new locomotives
The new paint scheme for the Talgo locomotives and trains continues the visual identity of the Leo Express brand, based on white, orange accents, and graphic elements inspired by the tech sector.
The operator says this image emphasizes the company’s dynamism, speed, and international character and aligns with the design already used on its regional lines in the Pardubice region of the Czech Republic and on the Bratislava–Komárno route in Slovakia.
Railpool joins Leo Express in the cross-border segment
“We are delighted to support Leo Express for the first time in cross-border passenger transport between the Czech Republic and Slovakia. By using modern, interoperable locomotives, Railpool enables the companies involved to operate seamlessly across borders, meeting the highest standards of safety, comfort, and sustainability,” said Torsten Lehnert, CEO of Railpool.
