Leo Express expands its services in Poland

Poland’s Office of Rail Transport, UTK, granted Leo Express the open access on Prague – Medyka route for a period of 5 years. Following the approval, starting December 11, 2019, the Czech operator will offer daily transport services between Prague, via Katowice to the Polish-Ukrainian border from 2019 to 2024.

The operator will daily run four pairs of trains on the Prague – Medyka railway route, serving 17 stations, such as Ostrava, Katowice, Kraków, Rzeszów and Przemyśl.

UKT said that, following a comprehensive analysis, the launch of new connections proposed by Leo Express will not threaten the economic balance of the market. The decision approved by UTK says that the connections planned by Leo Express are to be complementary to the transport offer provided by the public transport operators.

In July 2018, it started operations on the Prague – Krakow railway route, becoming the first private rail passenger carrier on Polish railways.
