Last Kolej Plus contract in Mazovia signed

Kolej Plus in Mazovian VoivodeshipPoland’s rail infrastructure manager PKP PLK and Kozienice County signed the contract for the construction of a new rail line, which is the last contract for Kolej Plus in Mazovian Voivodeship.

Thanks to the construction of a new railway line, the residents of Kozienice will benefit a fast and convenient connection with the capital in 86 minutes.

PLN 321 million (EUR 68.15 million) is the estimated value of the project covering the construction of a new 24 km railway line from Świerże Górne to Dobieszyn, which will be connected to the No. 77 (Janików – Świerże Górne) and No. 8 (Warszawa Zachodnia – Kraków Główny) railway lines. The route will be electrified, thanks to which carriers can use modern and green vehicles delivering better services to passengers. Three new stations will be constructed along the new rail connection and all facilities will be adapted to serve people with reduced mobility. The stations will be equipped with shelters, benches and bright lighting ensuring comfortable conditions for waiting for the train. The appropriate height of the platforms will also facilitate getting on and off the train.

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe has already signed all agreements with the applicants in Mazovia Province part of the Kolej Plus programme. With the Mazovian Voivodeship government, contracts were signed for the revitalization of Ostrów Mazowiecka – Małkinia and Sokołów Podlaski – Siedlce rail sections and the contract with the Serock municipality covers the construction of Zegrze – Przasnysz railway line as part of the Northern Mazovia Railway project.

Kolej Plus in MazovianVoivodeship includes four contracts for rail lines with a total length of 147 km including the construction of 97 km and revitalisation and modernisation works for 50 km.

This year, PKP PLK selected 34 projects to be implemented under the PLN 13.2 billion (EUR 2.8 billion) programme to be implemented in 11 voivodships. The entire initiative includes 10 revitalisation projects for 315 km of rail lines, 14 projects covering reconstruction and extension for 516 km lines and 7 projects which include the construction of new lines totalling 189 km. In addition, the progamme includes 3 documentation projects concerning 183 km of railway lines.

Kolej Plus was designed to provide rail access and connections for cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants and thanks to the projects to be implemented in 34 cities, 1.5 million of inhabitants will gain better access to the passenger railway. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2029.
