LA approves East San Fernando Valley LRT

Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has approved the construction of East San Fernando Valley LRT valuated at USD 1.3 billion.
The line will have 14.8 km stretching between the Van Nuys station on Orange Line and the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink Station.
The East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor project will have 14 stations and will run along the Van Nuys Boulevard.
The new line will offer faster transport connection than the existing bus rapid transit and will boost region’s connectivity by providing links to Orange Line, Metro bus services, Metrolin and Amtrak services.
In November 2016, the voters of Los Angeles County approved Measure M, a 1/2 cent sales tax designed to make funds available for transport projects. Measure M earmarks USD 1.3 billion for the East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor, which is sufficient to build the new connection.
The construction of the line is scheduled to be launched in 2021 with passenger services to be launched in 2027.
