KTZ proposes a container operator on China – Europe route

Kanat Alpysbayev, the KTZ Chairman of the Board, proposed the creation of a container operator and investor on container assets for the joint use of rail routes linking China and Europe, through Kazakhstan. This was announced during a meeting between the representatives of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and the officials of Chinese provinces and large transport and logistics companies.
The routes proposed by the head of KTZ include the directions through the territory of Kazakhstan – China – Russia – China, China – Central Asian countries – China and Trans – Caspian route.
The current state and prospects of cooperation in the development of container transport on the China – Europe – China route via the territory of Kazakhstan were discussed at meetings with the Deputy mayor of Chengdu, Liu Shaolu, Deputy Governor of Hunan province (Changsha), Hae Bausano, Deputy Secretary of municipal Committee of XI’an city Gao Gao and head of logistics platform the city of XI’an sun Imenom.
According to the estimations, the container traffic from China to the EU and vice versa records positive dynamics. In the first 10 months of 2018, 508 trains (20 862 TEUs) run on the route, which is 4 times more than in the same period of 2017.
In addition, since the beginning of 2018, 102.2 thousand TEUs have been overloaded through the Khorgos – Eastern gate Dry port, which is 36% more than in the same period of previous year.
