KLS Earthworks & Environmental has been awarded the contract to undertake site grading and servicing work at the future Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) for Calgary’s Green Line LRT Southeast Project. The site is located just north of 126 Avenue SE between 40 Street and 52 Street SE.

With over 25 years of experience operating in Calgary, KLS is recognised as a leader in earthworks construction and brings substantial local expertise to the project.
“We’re proud to contribute our expertise to a project that will shape the future of transportation in Calgary,” said Chris Powell, COO of KLS Earthworks & Environmental. “As a local company with deep roots in this city, being part of this project is more than just a job—it’s a chance to help build the infrastructure that will serve our community for generations to come.”
The contract includes the removal of topsoil and rough grading across the site. KLS will also form two dry ponds and one wet pond at the west end of the project area. In addition, the company will install deep utilities such as water mains, sanitary sewer lines, and stormwater infrastructure.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2025.
Preparing for future Green Line LRT operations
The grading and servicing work will prepare the site for the construction of the MSF building. This facility will house operations for storing, maintaining, cleaning, and servicing the light rail vehicles.
The broader site will also include Shepard Station, a 920-stall Park and Ride facility, bus terminals, and a public plaza, making it a critical node in the city’s expanding transit network.
Further updates on construction progress are expected as the Green Line LRT project continues to advance.
