Italferr wins contract for Sarmiento line in Buenos Aires

Italferr has been nominated the main designer for the infrastructural and technological modernisation project of the “Sarmiento” railway line in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Under a EUR 41 million contract signed with G&S consortium, Italferr will offer technical support for the modernisation works of the railway line that connects the peri-urban Moreno station to the Once station in the centre of Buenos Aires.
The “Sarmiento” railway line modernisation project involves the construction of a new section of underground line, about 18 km, eight new stations, and the technological equipment for the entire infrastructure with systems capable of ensuring a metropolitan service with a train frequency of every three minutes and an estimated capacity of over 150 million passengers every year.
“The modernisation of the ‘Sarmiento’ railway line for technical complexity and duration of the works (expected to be five years from March 2018 until the complete realisation of the work) represents the most challenging project in the context of all Italferr’s current activities abroad,” Carlo Carganico, General Manager of Italferr said.
